Lions Class

Welcome to Lions' Class page.

I would like to wish you all a warm welcome back to Turvey Primary School. Let’s see what this year holds for the new Year 5’s! The children have been very excited about being the first year 5’s’ and have settled very quickly!

The official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II,taken by Cecil Beaton after her coronation in 1953.

Don't miss The Telegraph's eight-page souvenir supplement, free with Monday's newspaper

Our topic this term is 'We are Britain'. The children have already begun to identify a number of kings and queens as well as understanding information about them as a monarch and their reigning history. They have also loved making newspaper articles about the coronation of our current Queen Elizabeth II, props and timelines.

In Maths this week, we have been looking at Place Value. The children have been having practical fun, multiplying and dividing by 10,100, 1,000 and 10,000. Take a look below to see some of the children in action!

We have also had the pleasure of working alongside the Happy Chick company, who supplied us with eggs to incubate and hatch. We were very lucky enough to see the chicks hatch, with 10 healthy chicks in total.  We have kept three girls, whilst the rest have gone to live with a parent in their forever home. Check out the moment when Lion class had a cuddle with the chicks, at just 2 days old!
